In collaboration with group members Zion Bishop, Mercy Godfrey, Andres Llanes, Kelsey Lopez Aldas, and Zach Rojas.
When designing a "digitally smart" skatepark, our group wanted to select a location that really would benefit from the park. Christchurch, NZ was our first pick, as the area was known for its skate scene and the pinpointed location suffered from multiple earthquakes, creating a red zone for building. New Zealand was also known for its extremely green energy use with 87% of its energy being from renewable resources.
Aside from designing the skatepark itself with divided spaces based on skill level, all energy produced throughout the site is created through solar and kinetic energy. The project aimed to create a social space where people of all ages and skill levels could pursue their hobbies safely and accessibly.
