Spring 2025 Innovation Day Judge's Award Winner
The purpose of this course was to choose either a flood management or a wastewater management project and propose a solution to solve the issue. My team picked a flood management project focused on reducing the amount of flooding that occurs in the city of New Orleans. To conclude our project, we chose two of our three proposals to combine for the best overall outcome. It saves billions of dollars in repairs overall while only costing under $100 million. On top of our proposed solutions, we researched multiple precedents to aid in our calculations.
Our project participated in the IWEA student design competition and placed in the top three out of about 70 teams (unranked) at IIT Innovation Day.
